The book "ACSM’s Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription”, translated by Dr. Sajad Ahmadizad and Dr. Afshar Jafari, faculty members of the Faculty of Sport sciences and health of SBU, Dr. Khosrow Ebrahim, retired professor of the Faculty of Sport sciences and health of SBU, Dr. Hiva Rahmani, Dr. Ayyub Babaei and Dr. Mahmoud Reza Taghizadeh, PhD graduates of SBU has been published recently by SBU Press in 685 pages.

The book was authored by a team of experts from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in 2021. The ACSM is the most reputable scientific organization in the field of sports science, in which the world's most prominent researchers and sports scientists are members. The book was first published in 1975 and to date has been revised, on average, every 4 to 5 years. The tenth edition is the latest one, which was published in 2018.

This book focuses on providing scientific information about screening and initial monitoring before participating in exercises, valid exercise tests to determine the level of fitness and health of individuals, and finally providing scientific instructions and principles of prescribing exercises for the prevention and treatment of diseases. This book is the most comprehensive book in the field of prescribing exercises, which deals with three important topics: initial scientific evaluation of the client, principal prescription of exercises, and special considerations for a wide range of patients.

The book has been translated with remarkable accuracy and quality by a group of international professors and students of the Department of Sports Physiology of SBU. It is the most suitable scientific reference for all coaches of bodybuilding clubs, sports medicine specialists, students and professors of sports sciences and all those who work in the field of prescribing exercises for the prevention and treatment of various diseases.
