The two-volume Farsinema collection has been published.

The Farsinema Collection, authored by Dr. Mahinnaz Mirdehqan Farashah, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Literature and Humanities at Shahid Beheshti University, along with Parvaneh Ahmadi, a PhD student in Teaching Persian as a Foreign Language (Azfa) at Shahid Beheshti University, and Safoura Ahmadbeigi, an Azfa instructor, has been published.

This two-volume collection will be released for the first time in 1403 (2024), in large format, priced at 11,000,000 rials.

The first volume, An Overview of Short Stories, Intermediate Level 2, consists of 92 pages and is priced at 4,500,000 rials. The second volume, An Overview of a TV Series, Advanced Level 1, has 132 pages and is priced at 6,500,000 rials.

Faraz Farsi is a comprehensive and practical program in the field of Persian Language Teaching (Azfa). It is designed to develop specialized resources for teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers, addressing the needs of learners for both "general purposes" and "specific purposes" through the preparation of textbooks and applications (or Persian language learning tools).

The authors of this collection focus on teaching spoken Persian in its natural context using content created for native speakers, emphasizing all its aspects rather than merely addressing phonological processes. The approach also emphasizes Iranian-Islamic culture by consciously and carefully selecting educational content, implicitly and indirectly addressing linguistic-cultural stereotypes. An integrated approach is employed in designing diverse exercises to teach various aspects of vocabulary knowledge and test learners’ Persian language skills through different methods. The collection adheres to a diagnostic-to-productive progression in exercises and follows a gradual progression from simple to complex in exercises, lessons, and the books of the collection. These are the objectives and approaches of this series.

The book An Overview of Short Stories, the first volume of this series, is designed for Persian learners at the Intermediate Level 2 (B2). This book includes reading, writing, and grammar skills presented in 8 lessons, each designed for a 3-hour class equivalent to 4 educational units. These 8 lessons feature 8 selected stories from approximately 2,000 tales in the Encyclopedia of Iranian Folk Tales. The stories are arranged progressively, from one-part short stories to three-part short stories, with a gradual increase in difficulty. Each lesson includes the following sections:

Before Reading / During Reading / Text / After Reading / Grammar + Exercises / Writing / Section for the Learner / Section for the Instructor.

The book An Overview of a TV Series, the second volume of this series, is designed for Persian learners at the Advanced Level 1 (C1).

This book focuses on listening and speaking skills, as well as pronunciation, and is structured into 8 lessons. Each lesson is designed for a 3-hour class, equivalent to 4 educational units.

The 8 lessons include excerpts from 8 selected episodes of the 38-episode TV series Majid Delbandam. The authors have chosen these excerpts based on standardized criteria, following a gradual progression from easy to more difficult, and included them in the curriculum. Each lesson consists of the following sections: Before Watching / During Watching / Specified Time Segment of the Series / After Watching / Pronunciation / Writing / Section for the Learner / Section for the Instructor.

At the end of both volumes, an answer key is provided, allowing instructors and learners to verify the correctness of their responses. However, this answer key does not cover all the exercises in the books, as each lesson also includes tasks that learners will complete during classroom activities and discussions with the guidance of the instructor. In the second volume, in addition to the answer key at the end of the book, the dialogues from the TV series are transcribed by lesson, giving instructors and learners access to the textual content of the series as well. The two-volume Farsinema collection is part of the comprehensive Faraz Farsi program, which emphasizes the importance of distinguishing between the spoken and written forms of Persian in teaching Persian to non-native speakers. It is designed with a practical approach.

Students and enthusiasts can purchase the book from the Persian Language Teaching Center for Non-Native Speakers (Phone: 29905183) or the Sales Office of Shahid Beheshti University's Scientific Publications, located on the ground floor of the Information Technology (IT) building (Phone: 29902084).
