35 faculty members of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) are listed among the top two percent most cited researchers in the world in the one-year citation period.
According to the announcement of the president of Islamic World Science and Technology Monitoring and Citation Institute (ISC), based on the one-year citation performance in 2022, there are 2,138 researchers with organizational affiliations of the Islamic Republic of Iran among the total number of 210,198 international researchers.
Based on the latest findings of the joint project of Elsevier and a group of Stanford University researchers, known as the "Stanford University List", the latest update of this database was published in October 2023. This list has analyzed the citation performance of authors for their published research outputs in the period from 1960 to 2022 in 22 main areas and 174 sub-areas, and based on this, has introduced authors who are among the top two percent of cited researchers in the world. It is worth remembering that this database publishes two lists of the top two percent of the world's most cited researchers in each edition. The difference between these two lists is in the analyzed citation periods. In one of the mentioned lists, the period of received citations is one year, and in the other list, the period of received citations is considered from 1996 onwards. The present report lists the top two percent most cited researchers of Iran based on one-year citation performance.
In the list published based on one-year citation performance in 2022, there are 2138 researchers with organizational affiliation of the Islamic Republic of Iran among the total number of 210,198 international researchers. The number of Iranian researchers in 2022 has increased by 10.15 percent compared to 2022, that is from 2138 to 1941.
