The book “A Selection of Rumi’s Divan-e Shams-e Tabrizi” translated by Seyed Abolghassem Fatemi Jahromi, associate professor of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Shahid Beheshti University has been published recently by SBU Press in 86 pages.
Based on the influence and impression of Shams-e-Tabrizi on Moulana Jalal- al Din Mohammad Rumi Balkhi, Fatemi Jahromi chose 38 lyrics and translated them verse to verse into English with the interpretation of each lyric in Persian and English.
Both Moulana and Shams were distinguished scholars, theologians and philosophers, and perfectionists. Shams-e-Tabrizi who was upset from the bad behavior of Moulana’s followers and students disappeared. However, he rose again from Rumi’s existence. Henceforth, Moulana could complete Divan-e-Shams-e Tabrizi which is a huge work in Persian literature. He was able to introduce worship of God, Humanism, self-knowledge and humanitarianism to the readers.
Moulana notices the truth of love in Shams and defines him as a tiny light of God. Understanding the fire of love is the quality of fire. The real use of fire is that it turns everything into fire. The fire of love eventually turns the lover into beloved. From Moulana’s point of view the real aim of love is sacred. It should not be interpreted as non-mystical.

Loves that are based on non-mystical,
Are not love, they are hypocritical.

Moulana is a wise man and strong as a mountain. Someone who is familiar with Moulana will not become atheist. Closeness to God is not possible without love of God. Moulana’s love is love of God. In many of his lyrics Moulana mentions his inner feelings which is based on the companionship with Shams.
