Academics of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) gathered on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in support of the protest by the students of American and European universities.
By holding a protest rally, students, faculty members and staff of SBU declared their support for the uprising of the students of American and European universities in condemning the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza.
After performing noon and afternoon prayers in the central square of the university, the academics of SBU marched through the streets of the university chanting slogans of death to America and death to Israel, towards the building of the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Peace and Democracy of the university, and supported the international peaceful demonstrations in support of Palestine, against the brutal military invasion of Gaza.
The freedom-seeking academics of SBU condemned the actions of the American police by gathering in front of the building of the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights of the university and announcing their support for the anti-Zionist protests in the West. Further, the statement of the academics of SBU was read as follows:

Dear free and freedom-loving professors and students,

As shown in history, young elites like students and faculty members have always been at the forefront of defending humanity and freedom worldwide. On behalf of the students and professors of Shahid Beheshti University, we would like to express our deep support for the anti-Zionism movement and your global peaceful pro-Palestinian protests against the brutal military offenses in Gaza. Though since last October around 35,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and more than 62 percent of all homes have been destroyed, no breakthroughs have been made so far for reaching a real cease-fire in Gaza. Further, silence and the lack of practical actions from governments and international organizations over the basic rights of Palestinians under continuous fire and genocide in Gaza is no longer acceptable if we are free scholars. We hope that the extension of our academia-led rally will lead to an end to the US and European support for Israel. Despite any repression, our protests will continue to spread to the world and gain significant momentum with a key role in fighting and overcoming inequality and oppression caused by US imperialism and the Zionist apartheid regime as well as setting the stage for the end of genocide in Gaza. Certainly, We wrote in the Psalms, after the Torah: 'Indeed My righteous servants shall inherit the earth.' (Holy Qur’an – Al-Anbiya: 105)
