Twenty-nine faculty members of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) were introduced in the list of the world’s top 2% scientists in 2023, and 10 faculty members of SBU were introduced in the list of top 2% scientists in 2023 based on the entire period of activity.
According to the announcement of the Research and Technology Vice-Presidency of SBU, the list of the world's two percent most cited scientists in 2023 was published based on the evaluations conducted at Stanford University on the basis of known indicators and information contained in Scopus. These scientists were introduced based on the number of citations in valid scientific articles published until the end of 2022.
This list analyzed the citation performance of authors in terms of their composite citation index score in the period from 1960 to 2022 in 22 main subject areas and 174 sub-areas, and accordingly introduced the authors who are among the top two percent of most cited researchers in the world in two lists: "2% most cited scientists based on the performance of the entire service period" and "2% most cited scientists based on the performance of the last year (2022)”.
The composite citation index is a set of six citation indices introduced and calculated by Stanford University researchers. The composite citation index is a set of six separate citation indices, all calculated in a mathematical formula using logarithms. The formula used to calculate the composite citation index (C score) indicates that the effect of some indices such as the self-citation rate - which can cause manipulation of the indices in citation circles - is neutralized. Instead of focusing on productivity (number of articles), this index concentrates on impact (number of citations), and also looks at information such as co-authorship and author position (single, first and last).
This report was obtained based on Scopus system data on October 1, 2023 and analyzed by ICSR laboratory. Also, the order of authors is according to their rank based on C Score.
